Checkout Errors and Fast Fixes
February 14, 2026 ยท 7 min read
Checkout issues kill revenue fast. These are the problems we fix most, and how to diagnose them.
1. Payment gateway errors
Verify API keys, webhook endpoints, and live/test mode settings. Most failures come from mismatched credentials.
2. Ajax checkout failures
Check the browser console and WooCommerce logs. A single JS error can block the order submission.
3. Shipping and tax conflicts
Broken shipping rules or tax tables can stop checkout. Rebuild the rules and test with a clean cart.
4. Plugin conflicts
Disable custom checkout fields or discount plugins one by one. Conflicts are the top cause of sudden failures.
5. Theme overrides
Outdated template overrides can break checkout after WooCommerce updates. Compare against core templates.
